Overhead Crane Training

TRS offer a range of Overhead Cranes training courses and capability assessments relating to lifting operations. 

This course provides candidates with an introductory training programme to become competent in the safe use of Overhead Cranes, including practical experience and knowledge based training.

We will aim to deliver the training on site in Liverpool, subject to the use of a suitably certified overhead crane.

Course Content

  • Crane Lifting operations, legislation and regulations
  • Knowledge of different overhead cranes types and their controls
  • Common types of Lifting Equipment and Lifting Accessories
  • Periodic equipment examinations including pre & post use inspections
  • Defective equipment and quarantine procedures
  • Lifting operations and cranes hazards
  • Safe Working Systems and control measures
  • Load weight estimation, Centre of Gravity, security & stability
  • Slinging Principles
  • Tag lines usage
  • Load and lay-down areas
  • Personal Protection Equipment
  • Communication methods and announcements
  • Signage and barriers
  • Emergency procedures and escape routes
  • Overhead crane operation / control panels
  • Moving of a load
  • Trial Lifts 
  • Load landing (including. target practice)
 

Course Details

Our overhead crane training course is a 1 day (8 hour) course tailored to suit your facility and equipment. We will adapt the programme to meet your sites needs and hold the training onsite, at a time that suits you.

* Please note that novice operators can take advantage of an extended 1 or 2 day course to gain additional practical experience.

Crane operators will receive handouts and workbooks during the day and receive a wallet card, upon successful completion of the course. 

Looking to be re-certified? Crane Operators who have previously been certified through a qualified provider can speak with our account managers about signing up for a re-certification overhead crane course.
