TRS Training has retained its Matrix accreditation. The highly coveted award confirms our team continues to deliver high-quality information, advice and guidance (IAG). The report recognised our efforts saying that ‘IAG continues to be embedded within the work of the organisation‘.

Benchmark of Quality

The accreditation is the benchmark quality standard for organisations delivering information, advice and guidance as part of their service. The Department for Education uses the Matrix standard as a framework. They apply it to assess the suitability of suppliers for training and careers contracts delivered on behalf of the Education Skills Funding Agency.

An independent assessor carried out a rigorous assessment at TRS Training. In the evaluation, he scrutinised four elements of our provision.

To guarantee success, each of the following had to meet a certain standard: leadership and management, resources, service delivery and continuous quality improvement.

Remaining Dynamic

Once the assessment was complete, we received a copy of the report from the assessor. The document confirms several strengths here at TRS.

We are recognised as ‘dynamic‘, ‘not afraid to take difficult decisions‘ and that we ‘play an important role in how the sector develops‘.

Staff, partners, customers and learners contributed their opinions and experiences. One partner described the level of support we offer:

“The level of support and care offered is very high; TRS has provided guidance, support and invaluable intelligence on making standards work for our sector.”

When it came to our approach regarding the continuous professional development (CPD) of managers and staff, the report concluded we:

‘…strike an effective balance between equipping staff to undertake their role effectively, maintaining their professional sector status and helping them progress in their career pathway‘.

Future Development

One of the most valuable aspects of the process is how it helps to identify areas for development.

The assessor tendered some great suggestions. And these comments have inspired us to make our Information, Advice and Guidance outstanding by expanding it to include well-being support for learners.

We will also be focusing on the support for students should their TRS trainer change. Further, we will boost the board’s effectiveness by evolving its scorecard system to assess performance in critical areas.

The report proffered advice regarding the tracking of destinations. The TRS team will be looking at streamlining this process moving forward.

Maintaining Reputation

More than 40 people, including employees, learners, partners and employers, participated in the process. Our managing director, Kevin Birch, also took part.

Kevin says:

“Operating continued to be challenging as we entered 2023. The TRS team has faced new challenges, and with their hard work, we responded dynamically.

Winning the contract to deliver the Government’s Skills Bootcamps in HGV driving was a milestone for us.  It is a laudable achievement for our students, staff, and partners to have maintained the high standards upon which our reputation is built. Congratulations, and thank you to everybody involved.” Becoming matrix-accredited places TRS among the country’s best organisations, universities and training providers.
