TRS has been recognised to have reached the aspiring level of the Liverpool City Region Fair Employment Charter, alongside organisations such as Liverpool Hope University Lloyds Banking Group, Merseyside Police and Liverpool One. The Fair Employment Charter was established by Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to benchmark and celebrate good employment practices, and uplift workplace standards.
Standards
Being an aspiring organisation means that TRS has met the set fair employment standards, including:
– Making sure health and safety rules are followed; supporting mental health at work and practices that support fair working hours.
– Being committed to fair play and fair hours
– Developing and following plans for evaluating staff performance and providing training follow best-practice guidance.
We are now working towards achieving accredited status, further strengthening our promise to maintain the highest employment standards.
Raising employment standards
The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Metro Mayor says:
“Our Fair Employment Charter is helping to turn that belief into reality – lifting pay, improving conditions, and creating real opportunities for people across our region.”
The charter acts as a benchmark for businesses, helping raise employment standards across the region while building a more motivated and skilled workforce.
Benefits for staff
An organisation that is committed to the Fair Employment Charter means staff benefit in the following ways:
- Greater job security – Reducing the uncertainty of jobs, such as zero-hour contracts.
- Career development – Staff are supported with opportunities to progress and develop their skills.
- Fair pay – Employers commit to paying at least the real living wage, ensuring staff are properly rewarded for their work.
- Enhanced wellbeing– Healthier workplaces, supporting staff with wellbeing initiatives, fair workloads, and a positive work–life balance.
Benefits for businesses
TRS encourages its partners in the Liverpool City Region to sign up for the Charter, which brings business benefits too, including:
- Recognition and visibility – Organisations that join the charter are celebrated for their fair practices and can attend events and programmes throughout the year.
- Higher staff retention – Good job quality makes staff more productive, loyal, and skilled.
- Economic growth – Supporting fair employment drives better working conditions and strengthens the local economy.
- Employer of choice – Fair practices help attract new talent and build stronger relationships within the workplace.
