West Midlands Logistics Leaders Sign Up for Funded Carbon Reduction Training
In a significant move towards promoting sustainability in the logistics sector, TRS, the Road Haulage Association and West Midlands Combined Authority are offering funded training aimed at addressing the critical skills gap in organisational carbon reduction within the industry. Logistics operators in the West Midlands area have already started enrolling their staff on the programme.
The Transport Manager & Sustainability Champion course is a comprehensive 13-day training programme, spread over five weeks, and delivered in partnership by the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and TRS. This initiative is designed to equip logistics leaders, transport managers and other staff with the essential skills needed to meet governmental sustainability requirements and implement effective carbon reduction measures. Not only that, it includes acquisition of the Transport Manager CPC which alone normally costs £1500.
Key Features of the Carbon Reduction Training
- Robust Carbon Reduction Plans: Participants will learn to develop detailed carbon reduction strategies specific to logistics firms.
- Sustainability Understanding: The course offers deep insights into the principles of sustainability as they apply to the logistics and transport industry.
- Environmental Practices: Practical training on implementing environmentally beneficial practices in the workplace.
- Preparation for Carbon Taxes: Guidance on preparing for future carbon reduction taxes.
- Cost Reduction through Sustainability: Innovative techniques to reduce business costs via sustainability measures.
- Transport Manager CPC Qualification: The programme includes achieving the Transport Manager CPC (HGV) qualification, delivered either online or at the RHA’s Walsall training centre.

These prices represent a huge discount on the usual commercial cost of this course which is £3456.
“Developing vital carbon reduction skills in the logistics sector is not just an environmental imperative but a commercial one,” said Kevin Birch, managing director of TRS. “This funded course provides a fantastic opportunity for logistics firms to meet both current and future sustainability requirements cost-effectively.”
