HGV refresher training is for anyone who already holds a Category C or Category CE licence but feels they need to refresh their skills, rebuild their confidence or would benefit from some extra practice.

Refresher training can be useful if you’re returning to the industry after a career change, starting a new driving role or just looking to improve certain skills. Training can focus on areas such as vehicle control, reversing and manoeuvring or coupling and uncoupling.
How does HGV refresher training work?
Before training begins, we would first arrange a one-hour assessment session for you at one of our driving schools with one of our HGV driving instructors. This allows us to understand your background and current driving ability.
The assessment allows us to assess your current level of driving and identify any areas where you may benefit from more practice.
After the assessment, our HGV instructor will recommend how many hours of refresher training you may need based on your current ability and the areas identified. Your training can then focus on the areas identified during the assessment, with guidance and feedback from one of our HGV instructors throughout to help you practise and rebuild your confidence behind the wheel.
