National Apprenticeship Week 2026: Celebrating the impact of TRS apprentices

For National Apprenticeship Week this year, TRS is shining a light on the massive contributions that TRS apprentices make in the workplace. We have spent the last few weeks asking the employers we work with to tell us about the direct positive impact their apprentices are making, and how they have helped their businesses.

National Apprenticeship Week

This year, National Apprenticeship Week takes place from 9–15 February and highlights the role apprenticeships play in building skills, careers, and strong businesses across the UK. This year’s theme, Skills For Life focuses on the practical skills people gain through apprenticeships and how those skills support long-term progression and business growth.

At TRS, we support apprentices and employers at every stage of their apprenticeship journey, from choosing the correct course to progressing into skilled roles for the correct career. Our apprenticeship courses are designed to build skills for life, supporting both personal development and business performance.

The benefits of apprenticeships for individuals

Apprenticeships aren’ t just for school leavers. Anyone of any age can do an apprenticeship and often, it’s the route that employees take if they want to progress in their career.

  • Build job-ready skills: The training is directly linked to your role, helping you develop confidence and the skills needed to succeed in your career.
  • Career progression: Apprenticeships open pathways to higher-level roles, further qualifications, and long-term career development.
  • Broaden your industry experience: If you are employed, doing an apprenticeship can help you develop more skills and specialisms to climb the career ladder.

At TRS, we occasionally have apprenticeship positions available with employers across the country which people can apply for. However, if you are already in a job, you don’t need to look for an apprenticeshiph vacancy. With the support of your employer, you can enrol on an apprenticeship programme whilst in your current job and it will help you upskill and progress. We offer a number of different apprenticeship programmes which are suitable for employees in different logistics and associated roles, from entry to senior levels.

There is no cost for anyone doing an apprenticeship, and with TRS there is the added bonus that almost all our apprenticeships come with the offer of an additional industry bolt-on training course free of charge.

The benefits of apprenticeships for businesses

For businesses, apprenticeships are a practical and cost-effective way to develop a skilled workforce and support long-term growth. Key benefits include:

  • Develop a skilled workforce : Apprenticeships allow you to invest in your existing employees, upskilling them to help address skills shortages or to build a pipeline of talent for positions that arise as your organisation grows.
  • Improve retention and efficiency: By supporting staff progression through apprenticeships, businesses can retain talented employees and strengthen their teams.
  • Cost-effective training: 95–100% of training costs are covered, making apprenticeships one of the most cost-effective ways to develop, retain, and future-proof your workforce.

We can also support employers with recruiting an apprentice, helping you find and enrol the right candidate at no extra cost.

The impact TRS apprentices have in the workplace

This #NAW2026, we are shining a spotlight on our apprentices and celebrating their achievements.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing our apprentice stories, highlighting the companies we work with and showing the real impact their apprentices have in the workplace. We’ll be posting across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, featuring the apprentices and companies taking part in our National Apprenticeship Week ad campaign that is featured in the RHA’s Roadway magazine , along with additional apprenticeship  content on our dedicated National Apprenticeship Week landing page and social media platforms.
