RHA Skills
TRS is the Road Haulage Association’s official training partner for apprenticeships and other funded training. RHA Skills is a partnership between TRS and the RHA which alongside access to training, provides information and advice on funding available for businesses to attract, skill and retain drivers, managers and other staff.
Free training needs analysis & funded professional courses
Through RHA Skills, TRS delivers high-quality funded apprenticeships and other funded logistics training designed specifically for the road transport industry. The RHA Skills service includes free, impartial Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), “all-bases-covered” support to set up government-funded programmes such as apprenticeships and Skills Bootcamps, and additional industry qualifications delivered in partnership with the Road Haulage Association. Our training is structured around long-term workforce development, using apprenticeships and other funded courses as part of a clear skills and career pathway that supports both business growth and individual progression.
RHA Skills gives RHA members and non-members a “one-stop shop” for everything to do with government funded training and recruitment initiatives.

Funded apprenticeships with free industry bolt-on courses
Most apprenticeships available to RHA members and non-members through RHA Skills include a fully funded industry bolt-on course, provided at no cost to employers. These bolt-ons are funded by TRS and enhance the value of apprenticeships by developing broader, job-ready skills aligned to logistics and transport operations.
Businesses can choose a bolt-on course to pair with the apprenticeship for their staff member, from a wide selection including IOSH, OLAT, Hazardous Goods Awareness or a selection from the RHA’s portfolio of e-courses. There are a few examples below to illustrate how apprenticeships can be combined with industry bolt-on courses through RHA Skills.
