About our Tilbury driving school
The TRS Tilbury driving school is based within DP World London Gateway Logistics Park near Stanford-le-Hope. It is well placed for learners from Thurrock, Grays, Tilbury, Basildon, South Essex and parts of East London and Kent.
London Gateway connects shipping, rail and road freight within a large port and logistics complex operating around the clock. Along with the nearby Port of Tilbury and Ford’s Dagenham operation, it forms part of Thames Freeport—an economic area focused heavily on ports, distribution, manufacturing and logistics.
Instructor Mark brings over 35 years’ industry driving experience and 22 years teaching experience. He trains candidates in a Mercedes Actros articulated vehicle or DAF rigid truck.
With a high first-time pass rate and excellent reviews, you can book your training today or arrange a no-obligation visit to meet Mark, and see and sit in the vehicles before committing to a course.
Driving tests are taken at Thurrock test centre.
We also offer refresher training to anyone who is qualified but hasn’t driven for a period of time.

Apprenticeships
The level 2 LGV driver apprenticeship and the level 2 urban driver apprenticeship incorporates the training and tests needed to gain a Category C+E licence or Category C licence. Both apprenticeships also include broader professional knowledge including load safety, drivers’ hours, vehicle preparation and efficient driving. Apprentices must be employed in a suitable role.

Skills Bootcamp places are dependent on current funding and eligibility and cannot be guaranteed. Contact us and we will explain which options are presently available in Tilbury.
